HiPrep was born out of the personal journey of its founder, Adanma C. Ugwu, whose upbringing was shaped by her parents who were teachers. From an early age, she experienced firsthand the transformative power of personalized learning. Her father who was a Physics Teacher in her school became her personal tutor when she was struggling with Math, patiently guiding her through concepts until it became her strongest subject. That experience instilled in her a deep belief: with the right support, every child can excel.
With this conviction, HiPrep began as a small program supporting students through daily Mental Math drills. From the very beginning, the mission was not only to help students pass exams, but to transform the way they studied, making learning consistent, personalized, and engaging. Families quickly recognized the difference, and HiPrep’s community grew.
Today, HiPrep has evolved into a global learning platform. We bring together exceptional tutors, smart technology, and a philosophy of active study and exploration to serve K-12 learners worldwide. From 11+ prep to GCSEs, WAEC, and beyond, we create study experiences that build confidence, discipline, and curiosity.
And with the launch of Lumi, our AI-powered personal tutor, we are shaping the future of learning, ensuring that every child, anywhere in the world, can access the kind of personalized guidance that once transformed our founder’s own journey.
At HiPrep, our story began with one child’s breakthrough. Today, it continues with thousands more.
We host our very first online Mental Math class for free, starting with just a handful of students; mostly family and friends. This small but powerful experiment laid the foundation for what would become a much bigger vision.
Our programs expand to include structured Math and English prep. Word-of-mouth drives steady growth as more parents discover the impact of our personalized study approach.
HiPrep is officially founded with about 60 students and 10 teachers. What started as small classes now grows into a learning community. We begin running formal 11+ prep programs while also building systems for teacher recruitment, parent communication, and student progress tracking.
We strengthen our focus on exam classes and pre-classes, serving students in Years 4–5 and Years 10–11. Our team grows past 50 tutors, all united by the mission to help our 300 students study smarter.
A pivotal year: A year of building and groundwork. We experimented with moving all bookings and enrollments online, while continuing to refine our systems and deepen our understanding of how families engage with our services. This groundwork laid the insights and structures that would guide the creation of Lumi.
HiPrep takes a bold step into the future with the launch of Lumi by HiPrep, our AI-powered personal tutor that meets every child where they are. With Lumi, we expand beyond tutoring into a new frontier of intelligent learning systems, shaping the future of education on a global scale.
